Pitches take a lot of wear in the top 50mm. The surface needs to be verti-drained to break it up and allow air and water to penetrate to the grass roots. The application of sports sand helps to create a more open soil structure that will not smear and cap. If bare patches have developed as a result of the capping then overseeding is necessary. It is also important to apply fertiliser to stimulate grass growth to allow the development of a healthy root system to withstand the battering in the winter months.

The sanding and fertilising can take place in one pass and at no greater price than the application of straight sand alone, by using SPORTS SAND PLUS. This high grade washed silica sand mixed with green compost does not attract aggregate tax and therefore enables us to apply the necessary fertilisation to the grass sward at no extra cost PLUS the environmental credentials!!
